A nice job for this time of the year. Fly to Athens and take a taxi out to the west of the city to Eleusina and start a 4-day COVID quarantine at the Eleusina Hotel. Weather was mild, certainly not as cold as the UK. At the end of the quarantine period I was taken to ASSO Divers base where they are having a nice looking new office building built. The CLB Atalantis was berthed, stern too, at the end of the quay. Just as I remember her, and with a warm welcome too. The Atlantis was moved overnight to the Hellenic Cables factory and loading berth near Corinth where we spend a few days loading the project 150kV subsea cable. The 330-MW project total distance is approx. 70km, so the cable was split into 2x 35km load, basically the full capacity of the Atlantis main cable turntable. The cables would be installed in 2x campaigns: Lavrion power sub-station to mid-point to subsea joint to Kafireas II wind farm. A subsea joint was then installed at the mid-point. The 2x campaigns were completed in approx 4-weeks, including 7-days for the subsea joint. The weather was a major concern on this project, mainly due to the capacity loading of the Atalantis barge. The sun shone on most days, but there was always the risk of an un-forecast squall appearing over the snow-capped mountains.
